Ego as awareness of one's own beauty and uniqueness, Ego as a peacock with a sublime charm.
And the peacock is the focus of this new Crita dinner service. Its mythological beauty, its colored wheel open in circles, now hand painted on our dishes, become gratification for the eyes of those who will dress the table with these Sicilian ceramic plates.
The peacock's tail has been a decorative element of Caltagiorne ceramics since the Renaissance. His feathers and their eye made of colored fans have decorated Caltagirone majolica for centuries.
As always Crita looks to the past to find the way to the future. Inspired by the rich production of our city, we let ourselves be attracted by this decoration and we transported it with delicate brushstrokes, rigorously given freehand, on our plates. Only the peacock could bewitch us like this.
And here, however, the peacock tail, in Crita's interpretation, is tinged with unusual and contemporary colors:
The blue San Leone, the pink of Mozia, the yellow Montedoro.
Everything in our Caltagirone plates must refer to Sicily.
And so, with the crowns chasing each other to form a hypnotic decoration, Crita serves another piece of Sicily at the table to be eaten with the eyes.
